Hillary Clinton: we’re hitting the road to shine a light on women who inspire us
Hillary Clinton, former State Department Secretary, gets candid in the new TV series “Gutsy,” admitting her decision to stay with her cheating husband might not be the best choice for someone else.
In a trailer for the TV series, which is set to air in September on Apple TV+, the former Secretary of State has a conversation with Rev. Whittney Ijanaten, who asks about Clinton’s challenging marriage to Bill Clinton.
“You have a marriage that has been on public display since the beginning. You said the gutsiest thing you ever did was stay in your marriage,” Ijanaten, who officiates weddings, asks Hillary.
“That doesn’t mean that’s right for everybody,” Clinton says in the trailer.
Clinton endured a marriage with Bill that began in 1975 and got rocky when he was involved in a sex scandal during his presidency in the late 1990s.
Hillary Clinton gets candid in the TV series, which she co-hosts with her daughter, Chelsea, as they travel the country to learn from other influential women.
Hillary Clinton gets candid about her relationship with Bill, though the trailer cuts away before getting deeper into the conversation. However, Ijanaten told Entertainment Weekly, “It was really nice to be human with someone who has just been, like, supernatural.”
“It wasn’t Rev. Whittney to Secretary Clinton, it was woman to woman — I want to know how was it that you were able to stay? I was very grateful for the connection, for what they saw in me and how our conversation, once it got together, could be some magic,” she added.
The TV series features many influential women, including Goldie Hawn, Megan Thee Stallion, Amy Schumer, Kate Hudson, Wanda Sykes, Gloria Steinem, Jane Goodall, Mayte Valdes and Kim Kardashian.
“We’re hitting the road to shine a light on women who inspire us to be bolder and braver,” Clinton says in the trailer.
“Leadership doesn’t look one way,” Hudson says in the trailer. “It’s a giant rainbow.”
The series explores what it means to be a gutsy woman in America.
“You’re not gonna break me down. You’ll get worn out before I do,” Megan Thee Stallion says in the trailer.
“Every single person makes some impact on the planet every single day. We can choose what sort of difference we make,” Goodall says in the trailer.
Hillary Clinton gets candid when the series premieres Sept. 9.
