Syrians Forum Against Al Assad’s Regime Rehabilitation
A group of independent Syrian Expats will hold soon an international event under the title of “ ex Syrian Forum Against the Rehabilitation of the Assad Regime”.
The forum will take place on the 20th of February 2022 in Istanbul- Turkey.
The Forum will be attended by select Government representatives, Civil society groups, Activists, Academics, and Legal Experts who have an interest in the subject. The Forum will seek to emphasize the necessity to continue the implementation of the current sanctions against the Assad Regime and will discuss ways and means to enforce and monitor adherence to these sanctions. It is hoped that the discussions will generate a pathway for the participating countries to continue and enhance their policies to achieve a political transition through the proper implementation of UNSC resolution 2554.
Background
Bashar Al Assad and his regime have changed Syria into a graveyard for innocent people, including women and children. He and his militia have committed one of the most horrendous atrocities and war crimes in the modern history of humanity. More than ten million people are displaced abroad, with one-third of the population displaced inside Syria. The regime continues to tighten its grip on what is left of a destroyed and crippled country.
The economic and political isolation of the international community has helped to further isolate the regime by sending the country into an economic and financial downward spiral. The initial goal was to pressure the Syrian regime and Russia to come to the negotiating table to implement the Geneva resolution 2254. However, Russia, Iran, and the Hizbollah militia continue its relentless military and economic support with the aim of full control of the country’s economic resources and spread of Iran ideology by creating an off-shoot militia similar to Hezbollah in Syria. Early this year and under the influence of Russia and Iran, Arab countries stepped in to help the Al Assad regime by creating an energy gas pipeline that extended from Egypt to Lebanon. These actions were taken in the hopes of reviving the regime with cash flow and bringing them back to the table of international diplomacy to revive the economy.
Unfortunately, these countries ignore the suffering and atrocities committed against millions of Syrian people by rushing to rehabilitate and whitewash a criminal and unlawful regime. The Syrian people are opposed to tyranny and will not be deterred or forced to accept this lawlessness. The Syrian people are determined to continue fighting for their freedom and liberation despite all desperate efforts to rehabilitate the Bashar Al Assad regime.
