THE PRESIDENT: It\u2019s very high.<\/p>\n
Q Why?<\/p>\n
THE PRESIDENT: It\u2019s very \u2014 because they have not \u2014 they have not moved any of their troops out. They\u2019ve moved more troops in, number one. Number two, we have reason to believe that they are engaged in a false-flag operation to have an excuse to go in. Every indication we have is they\u2019re prepared to go into Ukraine, attack Ukraine \u2014 number one.<\/p>\n
Number two, I\u2019ve been waiting for a response from Putin for my letter that \u2014 my response to him. It\u2019s come to that Moscow embassy. They\u2019re faxing it here. Not faxing it, they\u2019re sending it here. I have not read it yet. I cannot comment on it.<\/p>\n
Q Have you been briefed on it in any way?<\/p>\n
THE PRESIDENT: No- \u2014<\/p>\n
Q Do you think he\u2019s going to go through with this, sir? Is your sense that this is going to happen now?<\/p>\n
THE PRESIDENT: Yes. Not \u2014<\/p>\n
Q When?<\/p>\n
THE PRESIDENT: I \u2014 my sense is this will happen within the next several days.<\/p>\n

Q Is there any diplomatic path still available, Mr. President?<\/p>\n
THE PRESIDENT: Yes, there is. There\u2019s a clear diplomatic path. That\u2019s why I asked Senator \u2014 Senator \u2014 (laughs) \u2014 Secretary Blinken to go to the United Nations and make his statement today. He\u2019ll lay out what that path is. I\u2019ve laid out a path to Putin as well on, I think, Sunday. And so, there is a path. There is a way through this, but by diplomacy.<\/p>\n

Q Are you going to call Putin?<\/p>\n
THE PRESIDENT: I\u2019m not calling Putin. I have no plans to call Putin right now. Thank you.<\/p>\n
